Here is where to start if you want to learn to skate!
No minimal age required however we suggest 3 years of age. The child must accept to go on the ice without the parents.
We have programs for youths and adults who want to learn to skate as well as for those who want to improve their skating skills. Learning the basic skills is the starting point whether you want to socialise at a public skating session, become a hockey or ringette player, become a speed skater or figure skater.

Who’s it for?
For children of all ages, from beginners as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, ringuette, speed skating or just skating for fun.
Who teaches it?
NCCP-trained professional coaches, assisted by trained program assistants. The Coach/Program Assistant per skater ratio is 1 per 10.
What will you learn?
A complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster.
What can you expect?
Action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in a group format with a coach-to-student ratio of a maximum 1:10. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Badges, ribbons and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort and participation. Skaters will receive ribbons (3 per stage) and badges as they successfully execute different technical elements. There is a total of six stages after the preschool level.
What do you need to participate?
All you need are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, long pants, mittens, warm sweater or jacket. Dress in layers – it will get warm!
HOW DO YOU SIGN UP?
Register online by clicking below for access. Create a family account under a parent’s name and then add participant(s) for skater(s). Payment drop dates will be indicated in the registration’s instructions. Payment by check or cash only.
